Hi Reader –
Happy New Year! Before we embrace all that will be new in 2026 with the pending release of Version 11, let's take a minute to look back at the incredible year of development Evernote had in 2025.
Last week, I ended the year by going live on YouTube to recap the most significant feature innovations from 2025. With over 160 improvements released throughout the year, it's been challenging to keep up with everything that's changed — so I walked through the updates that actually make a difference in how you organize your life and work.
Here's a summary of what I covered:
The Big Picture
Bending Spoons' transformation of Evernote continues at a remarkable pace. With their recent $11 billion valuation and high-profile acquisitions (including Vimeo, AOL, and Eventbrite), they're attracting top engineering talent, which directly impacts the quality and speed of Evernote's development.
Game-Changing Features
Enhanced Slash Commands: 16 new options added, making it faster than ever to format notes without lifting your hands from the keyboard
Note Link Mentions: My personal favorite feature of 2025. Note titles automatically update across all linked notes (a game-changer for project management workflows)
Mobile Multi-Select: Bulk actions are now possible on mobile, making organization from your phone and tablet much more efficient
Improved Audio Recording: Pause/resume capability and the ability to navigate between notes while recording. This is the foundation for AI Meeting Notes, which is actively appearing in accounts
Search Modal Redesign: Completely rebuilt with unlimited results, smarter suggestions, and keyboard navigation
Templates Overhaul: Templates now work as users have requested for years and are intuitive to use
Focus Mode Features: Including auto-hiding toolbars to minimize distractions
Other Notable Updates
Performance and speed improvements, especially to the mobile client
ISO 27001 security certification
Service tier repackaging (important for those on the Personal or Professional plans)
Improved markdown support
Inline calculations
New logo and website

Cheers to a very productive 2026,
